League of Legends players have discovered that the new free battle pass Reckoner Alistar skin is merely a recolor of his base model, sparking significant community backlash.

A Reddit user created a side-by-side comparison revealing that the new skin only changes Alistar's colors, adding red hair, a purple tank top, and darker muscles without any model modifications. This discovery has particularly upset fans because even free skins typically include model changes, such as the Unchained Alistar skin which featured larger horns and unique spiked gauntlets.

The community points out that the last simple base skin retexture without model changes was Enchanted Galio in August 2010, making this a significant departure from League's established skin quality standards. Some players attribute this decline to recent layoffs at Riot Games, particularly in the art and cosmetic departments.

The situation is further complicated by Alistar's infrequent skin releases. Since he rarely receives new skins, this recolor may prevent him from getting a higher-quality skin for an extended period.
