Sony DMCA Takedown of Bloodborne 60 FPS Mod Sparks Fresh Remaster Hopes

Sony Interactive Entertainment has issued a DMCA takedown for the popular Bloodborne 60 FPS patch, fueling speculation about a potential official remaster or PC port. The patch, created by Lance McDonald in February 2021, allowed players to experience the PS4 exclusive at 60 frames per second instead of its original 30 FPS lock.

The timing is particularly significant as 2025 marks Bloodborne's 10th anniversary. The game, which has sold over seven million copies on PS4, remains one of FromSoftware's most celebrated titles alongside Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring.
FromSoftware's creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has previously expressed openness to a PC port, stating in a recent interview that many developers at the studio want to see it happen. While he couldn't explicitly endorse it, he noted he's "not opposed to" the idea.
Currently, Bloodborne and its expansion The Old Hunters remain playable on PS5 through backwards compatibility, though still limited to 30 FPS. While Sony's DMCA action against the unofficial patch has removed it from circulation, it has intensified community speculation about potential official plans for the game's future.
