Riot's Aggressive Anti-Lane-Swap Changes Hit PBE, But Players Find Loopholes

SSW Talon skin from League of Legends
Riot Games has introduced strict measures on PBE to combat lane-swapping in League of Legends, implementing a "Lane Swap Detection" system that activates between 1:30-3:30 for top lane and 1:30-2:15 for mid lane.
Key changes when lane-swapping is detected:
- Opposite side's turret gets 95% damage reduction
- Turret one-shots minions
- Gold and XP are funneled to nearest champion
- Lane-swappers receive half gold and XP from minions
Additional top lane penalties:
- Turret one-shots champions
- Enemy champion gets 50% damage reduction near turret

Riot Phroxzon states these measures are temporary while they work on long-term solutions. The goal is to make professional League of Legends matches mirror regular gameplay more closely.
Community response is mixed. While many welcome the change, others worry about its impact on outmatched bot lanes who rely on lane-swapping as a defensive strategy.
Current limitations:
- System can be circumvented by creative positioning
- Timer restrictions allow for post-detection swaps
- YamatoCannon demonstrates a workaround using mid-lane rotations
