Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangyun "Guangguang" Chen has confirmed that role queue will not be implemented in the near future, despite player requests for the feature.

The hero shooter currently divides characters into three roles: Vanguard (tank), Duelist (damage), and Strategist (support/healer). While players have expressed concerns about unbalanced team compositions, particularly in Competitive mode where teams sometimes consist of only Duelists, NetEase Games has a different vision for the game.

Chen explained that their goal is to maintain player freedom in hero selection and encourage diverse team compositions through team-up skills. Unlike traditional hero shooters such as Overwatch, Marvel Rivals' characters are designed to be more versatile, capable of performing multiple roles effectively.

"From the data we're seeing in our back end, things are going pretty solid," Chen stated. "We want people to have a Marvel experience where they're free to select what they want." He added that Competitive play has been showing various emerging team compositions that they continue to monitor.

While role queue isn't completely ruled out for the future, the development team is currently satisfied with the game's direction and will maintain the current system for the foreseeable future.
