Legacy: Steel & Sorcery introduces a fresh take on extraction shooters by replacing the typical military setting with a dark fantasy world. While this unique approach shows promise, the execution leaves room for improvement.
The game starts strong with a straightforward tutorial that teaches basic warrior mechanics. Initial matches feel rewarding as you learn to navigate the world, fight enemies, and successfully extract with loot. However, the experience quickly reveals its limitations.

Key issues include:
- Sparse map design with minimal enemy encounters
- Easily avoidable enemies that pose little threat
- Lack of tension during extractions
- Limited weapon variety and combat mechanics
- Underwhelming reward system
The fantasy setting provides a unique foundation for an extraction shooter, but the game needs several improvements to reach its potential:
- More dynamic enemy AI and pursuit mechanics
- Diverse combat styles for different weapons
- Increased risk-reward elements
- Enhanced map density and meaningful encounters

While the upcoming Wizard class may add variety, the game currently lacks the core tension that makes extraction shooters engaging. Every match should create anxiety about potential losses and excitement about possible gains.
Legacy: Steel & Sorcery shows promise with its fantasy twist on the extraction shooter genre, but needs significant improvements to create a truly compelling experience. The game is currently available in Early Access on PC via Steam.
