There are five main ways to gain experience:

- Must be within range of the enemy champion's death
- Minion proximity:
- Must be within 1400 units of dying minion
- Last-hitting always grants XP regardless of distance
- Solo XP: 95% of base value
- Shared XP: 124% of base value (split among nearby allies)
- Jungle monsters:
- Experience goes to killer (most monsters)
- Baron Nashor: Global team XP

- Three champions: 43.51% each
- Four champions: 32.63% each
- Five champions: 26.11% each
