Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Modders Break Save System Within Hours of Release
Within hours of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's release, modders have already created a solution to one of the game's most controversial features - its limited save system.
The Unlimited Saving II mod, downloaded over 10,000 times in its first few hours, allows players to save instantly by pressing F5. This bypasses the game's original save restrictions, which only permitted saving through autosaves, beds, or rare Saviour Schnapp potions.

Warhorse Studio intentionally limited saving to make player choices more consequential and prevent save-scumming. However, this design choice has been divisive within the community, with many players finding it unnecessarily restrictive.

The mod's rapid development and popularity highlight a significant demand for more flexible saving options. While PC players can now freely save their progress, console players remain bound by the original system's limitations.
Some players have suggested a compromise: implementing unlimited saves for casual difficulty while maintaining save restrictions in hardcore mode. This would preserve the intended experience for purists while making the game more accessible to casual players.
Beyond the saving system, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 offers several improvements over its predecessor, including:
- Enhanced combat mechanics
- Refined crafting systems
- Improved bow hunting
- Better new player onboarding
- Comprehensive introduction to the 15th-century Bohemian setting

The game successfully introduces both new and returning players to Henry's story and the Bohemian civil war, making it accessible even to those who haven't played the original.
