Chess Super-Grandmaster Nepomniachtchi Takes on Dota 2 Tournament, Brings Pro Gaming Past
Chess super-grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi, currently ranked eighth in the world, is competing in BetBoom's Streamers Battle Dota 2 tournament, marking an interesting crossover between chess and esports.

Nepomniachtchi, known as "Nepo" in the chess world, brings significant gaming experience to the tournament. In 2011, under the name BloodAngel, he won the ASUS Winter Open Dota 2 tournament, defeating prominent teams like NAVI.

Beyond Dota 2, Nepo has also achieved success in Hearthstone, reaching high ladder positions. He even introduced fellow Russian grandmaster Peter Svidler to the game, who became a occasional streamer.
This isn't the only notable chess-esports crossover. Mongolian Counter-Strike player Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren, who leads The MongolZ team, holds a FIDE Master title with a 2369 Elo rating.
