The Call of Duty League (CDL) has announced a three-year partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation, securing Call of Duty's position in the Saudi Arabia-based tournament. This collaboration extends the competitive CoD season through the summer months.

Last year's event in Riyadh saw Atlanta FaZe triumph in a 16-team tournament, competing against 10 professional teams and five qualifiers. The partnership also includes continued Call of Duty: Warzone tournaments.
Daniel Tsay, General Manager of Call of Duty Esports, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to provide more competitive opportunities for players, community, and fans. The CDL Championship Weekend is expected to take place in June, with the Esports World Cup following shortly after.
However, the partnership has faced criticism due to Saudi Arabia's stance on LGBTQIA+ rights, with notable figures like FGC champion SonicFox declining participation in previous events. This has raised concerns about potential alienation within the esports community.
The Esports World Cup Foundation frames this collaboration as part of their strategy to promote sustainable growth in global esports, though questions remain about inclusivity and accessibility for all participants.
