Fortnite is expanding into the tactical shooter genre with its new Ballistic mode, a 5v5 first-person shooter experience launching December 11, 2023.

The mode features tactical gameplay similar to Counter-Strike and VALORANT, where teams alternate between attacking and defending. The first team to win seven rounds claims victory. Instead of planting bombs or spikes, players interact with the "Rift Point Device."

Key Features:

  • Single map called Skyline 10 with Japanese-inspired theme
  • Traditional A and B bomb sites with central areas and flanking routes
  • Players start with a Ranger Pistol and 800 credits
  • Earn credits through kills and round wins to purchase weapons
  • Diverse weapon arsenal including Assault Rifles, Shotguns, SMGs, and Snipers
  • Tactical equipment like smoke grenades and flashbangs

Players can choose two Flex Gadgets from five options:

  • Proximity Mine
  • Bubble Shield
  • Recon Grenades
  • Frag Grenades
  • Impulse Grenades

Unlike other tactical shooters, Ballistic mode allows players to use their existing Fortnite character skins. The traditional battle royale mode remains available with its classic third-person perspective for players preferring the original Fortnite experience.
