Xbox has announced its first Developer Direct of 2025, scheduled for January 23 at 12pm CT, featuring several highly anticipated game reveals and updates.
DOOM: The Dark Ages headlines the event as a prequel to DOOM 2016, telling the origin story of the Doom Slayer. This medieval-themed installment introduces new weapons like a shield, mace whip, and nailgun, while maintaining the series' signature heavy metal soundtrack and intense combat.

The showcase will also feature:
- South of Midnight: A third-person action-adventure game from Compulsion Games, following protagonist Hazel as she explores Southern Folklore-inspired mysteries
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, featuring unique gameplay mechanics and a notable voice cast
- An unannounced fourth title from a mystery studio
