VALORANT Pro Receives Warning from Riot Games for €100 Bet on League Worlds 2024
Benjyfishy, a VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) finalist, received a warning from Riot Games for violating the company's esports global code of conduct by placing a bet on the 2024 League of Legends Worlds final between Bilibili Gaming and T1.
Team Heretics reported the incident to Riot on November 4, revealing that benjyfishy won €100 from the bet. While the amount is minimal compared to professional esports earnings, it violated Article 3.15 of Riot's code, which prohibits players from gambling on any Riot games, regardless of which title they compete in.
The investigation concluded with:
- A warning issued to benjyfishy
- An undisclosed fine for Team Heretics
- Acknowledgment of benjyfishy's full cooperation
- Recognition of his voluntary charitable donation
Riot noted that benjyfishy demonstrated genuine remorse and provided complete transparency about his betting activity. The investigation confirmed his bets were limited to League of Legends, minimizing any impact on VALORANT's competitive integrity.
The case serves as a clear reminder to all professional players that betting on any Riot game, regardless of the amount or which title they compete in, is strictly prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.
