Following Avowed's success, Obsidian Entertainment is considering developing a Pillars of Eternity Tactics game. Josh Sawyer, director of the Pillars series and Fallout: New Vegas, has revealed that many team members are interested in creating this tactical spin-off set in the world of Eora.

However, the project faces significant challenges:

• The tactics genre has a passionate but relatively small fanbase
• Development scope needs careful consideration to ensure profitability
• Resource allocation must be balanced against potential returns
• Visual quality expectations are high following Avowed's standards

Despite these challenges, successful tactical games like XCOM and the upcoming Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus sequel prove the genre remains viable. Avowed's strong performance on both Game Pass and Steam has encouraged Obsidian to explore more projects in the Pillars universe.

Currently, Obsidian is focused on completing The Outer Worlds 2, scheduled for release this year. Any decision about a Pillars Tactics game would likely come after this project's completion.
