Path of Exile 2 Players Demand Changes to Random-Based Crafting System

Path of Exile 2's crafting system has sparked significant player criticism due to its heavily randomized nature. Unlike its predecessor, the new system relies entirely on RNG (Random Number Generator) mechanics, leading players to compare it to gacha games.

The current crafting system works through:

  • Crafting orbs (currency) that add random modifiers to items
  • Essence currency that provides modifiers from specific categories, but still with random outcomes
  • Limited player control over the final crafting results

Player concerns include:

  • Lack of meaningful player agency in weapon crafting
  • Over-reliance on randomization
  • Ineffective vendor system for disenchanting items
  • Currency drop rates, despite being increased by 500%, still feel insufficient

While RNG is fundamental to ARPGs, the community argues that Path of Exile 2's implementation is excessive. Players suggest several improvements:

  • Higher currency drop rates
  • Increased gold availability
  • More deterministic crafting options
  • Better vendor systems for unwanted items

With the game still in early access, Grinding Gear Games has already shown willingness to adjust by increasing drop rates and loot quality. Further changes to the crafting system may be implemented based on continued player feedback.
