The inaugural LTA (League of Legends Americas) Season One finals concluded with concerningly low viewership numbers, potentially signaling trouble for the newly unified Americas league.

Team Liquid's victory in the grand finals on Feb. 23 drew only 168,852 peak viewers, significantly lower than expected. Even more telling, the quarter-final match between Cloud9 and LOUD garnered higher viewership at 291,301 viewers.

These numbers represent a substantial decline from 2024's regional competitions:

  • LCS Spring Split finals: 246,184 viewers
  • CBLOL Spring Split finals: 459,846 viewers

The LTA's regional performance also fell short:

  • LTA North peak: 148,603 viewers
  • LTA South peak: 254,464 viewers

Cross-continental matchups showed promise, with most quarterfinal games drawing between 260,000 and 291,000 viewers. However, the single-elimination format and early Northern versus Southern team matchups may be limiting the league's potential growth.

For comparison, Korea's LCK demonstrates the possible ceiling for viewership:

  • LCK finals peak: 1,432,474 viewers
  • LCK split overall peak: 1,907,634 viewers

The community response has been largely negative, with fans calling for a return to the previous format and expressing doubts about the league's sustainability at current viewership levels. The success of other regions suggests that viewers remain interested in competitive League of Legends when presented with engaging formats and competitions.
