LoL players believe new champion Mel belongs in bot lane instead of mid
Mel from Arcane holding glowing device
League of Legends' newest champion Mel, designed as a mid laner, is sparking debate among players who believe she's better suited for the bot lane carry role.
Despite Riot Games' mid lane designation, players have identified several characteristics that make Mel potentially stronger as a bot lane carry:
- Limited mobility makes her vulnerable in solo lanes
- Abilities work better with crowd control support
- Strong potential for 2v2 lane combinations
- Synergy with support champions like Nautilus and Leona
Sorceress with glowing orb and flames
Mel's key features include:
- Unique projectile reflection mechanic
- High-damage abilities (Q and ultimate)
- No mobility skills
- Vulnerability to crowd control
Jinx casting Mel ability
This situation isn't unprecedented - several mages have found success in the bot lane role, including:
- Ziggs
- Swain
- Lux
- Seraphine
- Cassiopeia
Currently, three of these champions rank among the top bot lane picks according to U.GG.
Mel will be released on January 23 with Patch 25.S1.2, when players can test these theories in practice.
