Isolde was the beloved wife of Viego and former Queen of Camavor whose death triggered the catastrophic event known as The Ruination. Originally a poor seamstress, she caught the eye of then-newly appointed King Viego who fell deeply in love with her at first sight.

After their marriage, Viego's obsessive love led him to neglect his kingdom's affairs. When Isolde was accidentally poisoned by an assassin's blade meant for Viego, her slow death drove him to madness. Though his niece Kalista discovered the magical Waters of Life that could save her, Isolde had already passed away before the cure could be brought.

Desperate to revive his wife, Viego invaded the Blessed Isles and forced Isolde's resurrection using the Waters. However, she returned as a tormented revenant and, in her agony, stabbed Viego with his enchanted blade. This act triggered the Ruination, transforming the Blessed Isles into the Shadow Isles and unleashing the Black Mist.

Isolde's soul shattered into 13 fragments, which scattered across Runeterra. These fragments possessed various objects and beings, including:

  • Her doll Gwen
  • The Sentinel Senna
  • The Maiden of the Mist
  • Various artifacts across different regions

Years later, when Viego attempted to reassemble her soul, Isolde was horrified by what he had become. She chose true death over returning to an obsessed husband who would destroy the world for her, prompting Sentinel Akshan to grant her final rest using his Absolver.

Isolde was known for her beauty, with light skin and auburn hair. A talented seamstress, she genuinely loved Viego before their tragic end. Her story serves as a cautionary tale about how obsessive love can lead to catastrophic consequences.
