Kalista Guide: Master The Spear of Vengeance in Season 15
Pierce is Kalista's primary damage ability that throws a spear dealing physical damage to the first enemy hit. If it kills the target, the spear continues and transfers rend stacks to the next target hit. This allows for creative waveclear combinations with her E - Rend.
Kalista starts each game with a Black Spear that lets her bind with an ally (usually the support) to create an Oathsworn bond. When near her bound ally, their basic attacks trigger Soul-Marked damage on the same target within 4 seconds.
Her W - Sentinel provides vision by sending out a patrolling spirit. The passive component works with her Oathsworn bond to deal bonus magic damage when both allies attack the same target.
Rend (E) is Kalista's signature ability - she can rip out spears from enemies to deal damage based on how many are stacked. If it kills a unit, the cooldown resets and mana is refunded. This enables strong objective control and execution damage.
Her ultimate Fate's Call pulls her Oathsworn ally to her location, allowing them to dash and knock up enemies. This provides both engage potential and a way to save allies.
Core Build Path:
- Start: Doran's Blade + Health Potion
- Core: Immortal Shieldbow > Runaan's Hurricane > Bloodthirster
- Situational: Guardian Angel, Mortal Reminder, Black Cleaver
Key Tips:
- Max E > Q > W
- Use Rend resets for efficient farming
- Coordinate with your Oathsworn support
- Save ultimate for key engage/disengage moments
- Leverage your strong early game to build advantages
Kalista excels at extended trades and objective control but is vulnerable to slows. Position carefully and use your mobility advantage while your passive allows you to hop after basic attacks.
When trading, stack spears on minions while harassing the enemy, then use Rend to secure CS and damage champions simultaneously. This creates strong lane pressure while maintaining farm.
