Elden Ring Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards, marks FromSoftware's first dedicated multiplayer battle royale experience in their acclaimed universe. This unexpected addition to the franchise brings a new dimension to the traditional Souls-like gameplay.

Game director Junya Ishizaki confirmed in an IGN interview that players will have only two options for participating in matches:

  • Solo play
  • Three-player team (trio)

The game notably excludes duo play, with Ishizaki emphasizing that Nightreign was specifically designed for three-person team gameplay, though solo players can still fully experience the game.

The title is scheduled for release in 2025, promising to bring the distinctive FromSoftware aesthetic and combat mechanics to the battle royale genre.
