
Destiny 2's Hidden Derealize Mission Revives Classic Exotic Quest Experience
Destiny 2's Episode Heresy has introduced an exciting new Exotic quest that brings back the thrill of discovery and exploration. The quest leads to obtaining the new Strand submachine gun, Barrow-Dyad, through a series of mysterious challenges and puzzles.

Players can begin their journey by locating a mysterious blight in The Nether activity aboard the Dreadnaught. When approached, the blight teleports Guardians to a puzzle area containing the first Osseous Taken Fragment.

The quest involves:
- Finding and solving environmental puzzles
- Empowering Taken curses
- Collecting Taken Osseous Fragments
- Completing the Derealize mission in The Last City
The preparation phase takes approximately one hour, followed by the main Derealize mission, which features:
- New Dreadnaught areas to explore
- Unique puzzles
- Rich lore discoveries
This unexpected early release marks a return to the excitement of classic Destiny 2 Exotic quests, reminiscent of the Corridors of Time and Whisper of the Worm missions. Unlike recent seasonal Exotic quests, the secretive nature and discovery process of the Derealize mission creates a truly memorable experience.
With Act Three of Episode Heresy still to come, players are speculating about additional content, though Bungie has yet to reveal their plans for the remainder of the season.
