Destiny 2's Heresy Act 2 launch has been delayed due to extended maintenance periods and technical issues. The maintenance window began at 4:45am CT, significantly earlier than usual, and has been extended multiple times beyond its planned noon CT completion.

This update is particularly significant as Heresy has successfully rekindled player interest after two disappointing episodes. Act 2 brings several new features:

• New seasonal weapons
• Court of Blades activity
• Guardian Games event launch
• Lotus-Eater rocket sidearm in Nightfall pool
• Catalysts for Barrow-Dyad Exotic SMG

While lengthy maintenance periods have become standard for Destiny 2 updates (increasing from 15 minutes years ago to roughly 90 minutes now), today's extended downtime is unusual. Players attempting to access the game during maintenance typically encounter the CAT error code, indicating a pending update.

Despite the delays, Act 2 will run for just three weeks, with the final act scheduled to begin on April 1. As of 2:18pm CT, the Destiny 2 servers are back online with Update 8.2.5, and players can now access Heresy's second act.
