Current VALORANT Competitive Map Pool: All 7 Maps in Active Rotation
VALORANT features 11 standard maps, with only 7 active in the competitive rotation at any time. This system helps players focus on mastering a smaller map pool while maintaining strategic variety.
Current Active Map Pool:
- Bind: Features teleporters for quick rotations
- Fracture: Unique layout with four neutral zones and multiple spawn points
- Lotus: Three-site map with rope ascender and rotating doors
- Pearl: Underwater map focusing on Mid control
- Split: Close-quarters combat with strategic ziplines
- Haven: Three-site map favoring attackers
- Abyss: Newest map featuring deadly pitfalls and alternative paths
Maps Currently Out of Rotation:
- Icebox: Removed in Episode Nine, Act Three
- Breeze: Known for long sightlines and open spaces
- Ascent: Removed in Patch 10.0 after being active since launch
- Sunset: LA-inspired map temporarily removed for balancing
Why Map Rotation Exists:
- Maintains a manageable learning curve for new players
- Allows for deeper map mastery
- Keeps competitive play fresh and balanced
- Only affects Competitive mode; other modes use all maps
- Changes occur every Act in 2025 season
The seven-map rotation was implemented in Episode 5 (2022) after consulting with esports teams, players, and professional organizations. This system strikes a balance between variety and mastery while keeping the game accessible to newcomers.
