Arcane fans clash with writer over cut Ekko-Jinx scenes in season 2
Arcane writer Amanda Overton recently revealed why certain Ekko and Jinx content was cut from season 2, sparking significant debate among fans.
According to Overton, scenes between Ekko and Jinx during their preparation for the Piltover/Zaun war against Ambessa's Noxian forces were intentionally omitted. The writer explained, "We deliberately left that to the audience's imagination. Since we spent so much time with them in episode 7, every scene during that time felt like rehashing what we had already shown."
Episode 7 featured Ekko in an alternate universe where Powder (pre-Jinx) survives, showing romantic moments between the two characters. The writers apparently felt these scenes sufficiently portrayed their potential connection.
However, fans strongly disagree with this creative decision. Many point out that alternate-universe Powder and Jinx are fundamentally different characters due to their distinct lived experiences and trauma. One Redditor noted, "AU Powder is not Jinx," highlighting how their relationship history includes dead Firelights and years of complex trauma.
The decision may have been influenced by budget constraints, as Bloomberg reported that Arcane exceeded its initial budget. While there won't be a season 3, the creators have confirmed other League of Legends shows are in development, with one project already a year into production according to co-creator Christian Linke.

The fate of "Timebomb" (the fan-named pairing of Ekko and Jinx) remains uncertain, leaving fans to fill the gaps with their own interpretations of what could have been between these complex characters.
