League Players Propose Brilliant 'Salty RunBack' Enhancement for Fearless Draft
League of Legends' Fearless Draft mode could become even more exciting with a simple player-suggested improvement: the Salty RunBack Card.
The current Fearless Draft format prevents teams from picking the same champions within a series, ensuring diverse gameplay. However, this eliminates an exciting strategic element where teams could "run it back" with identical compositions.

The proposed Salty RunBack Card would:
- Allow the losing team one chance per series to request a rematch with identical champions
- Give the winning team the choice to accept or decline
- Enable teams to prove their loss was due to execution, not draft choices
David "Phreak" Turley, League's gameplay designer lead, revealed that the development team had considered various formats, including:
- Complete champion reset for final matches
- Over-drafting system allowing pre-selection of multiple champions
With Fearless Draft expanding to more League esports events, the Salty RunBack Card could be tested at major tournaments like MSI or Worlds to evaluate its impact on competitive play.
