Former Smash Bros Pro ZeRo Returns to Twitch After 5-Year Sexual Misconduct Ban

ZeRo, former Smash Bros pro streamer
Former Super Smash Bros. pro player and content creator Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios has been unbanned on Twitch after nearly five years. The platform reversed its 2020 ban, which was implemented following allegations of sexual misconduct with minors.

Barrios, widely considered one of the best Smash 4 players ever with 56 consecutive tournament wins, faced serious allegations in 2020 related to incidents at the "Sky House," a shared living space for Smash Bros content creators. The accusations included showing inappropriate content to former roommate Jacqueline "Jisu" Choe and allegedly soliciting explicit acts from a minor.
Initially admitting to the allegations, Barrios later retracted his statements in a 2021 YouTube video, claiming he lacked evidence to defend himself at the time. He subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against Choe, which ended in a settlement.
While Twitch has now lifted the ban, Barrios has not regained his partner status. The platform has not provided an official explanation for the reversal, and the decision has sparked public controversy.
The situation remains developing, with uncertainty about whether Twitch will maintain its decision amid community backlash. Barrios is now free to stream on the platform, though he hasn't announced his plans for return.
